Mid-Week Challenge

Today is the first day of spring, but it sure does not feel like it where I am. Sitting at the beach on spring break, looking out the window at the bright sunshine is deceiving as the temperature is in the low 50s.  As the sun gets higher in the sky it is supposed to hit 60 degrees but that still doesn’t feel like beach weather as we begin the spring season.  No matter what the present temperature I know that due to the date on the calendar warmer weather is not too far off.  Thinking about that fact I am reminded of a verse in Isaiah that also brings hope!

Isaiah 35:1-2a “The desert and the parched land will be glad. The wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom. It will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.”

In many parts of the world the site of the budding crocus flower meant spring was on its way.  After a long cold winter that was a site that warmed the soul.  So too are the promises of God.  After a dry time in your spiritual walk or a hard time in your life you can be assured that God has not left you.

As we begin a new season it would be a great time for us to begin a new spiritual season in life.  Just like the budding of the flowers we too must begin again as buds.  Start by getting into the Bible and reading for yourself how much God loves you and wants to bring the light of His love into your life.  Don’t neglect your prayer life.  Just as you have been waiting to hear from God He too wants to hear from you.  Make the most of the sunshine, warmer temperatures are soon to arrive.

For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. Song of Solomon 2:11-12
