Mid-Week Challenge

Several people have asked about my thoughts on the actions of San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick.  As a form of protest, Kaepernick has decided not to stand with his team during the playing of the National Anthem.  He says that there are too many oppressed people in America today and he will continue to sit until these people are given justice.  He is referring to the number of police shootings that have occurred over the past few months where black people were killed and (in his words) police were given paid leave.  In my opinion Kaepernick is just another example of spoiled, disconnected from reality young people with money who live in our world today.  Through the deaths of our service men and women he has been afforded the right to sit during the anthem but I do not believe he thought through his actions.  By disrespecting what the America Flag actually represents he has done more harm than good.  By choosing such a deplorable act in protest the attention is all on him and not on the cause that he says he believes in.  Well, maybe that was his intention all along.

For a really good explanation and commentary on this issue please read Nick Pitts article below:  http://www.denisonforum.org/main-articles/sports/2835-colin-kaepernick-can-sit-because-others-stood
